What is an audioguide?

A popular choice among large and small museums and expos around the world, audioguides, also known as audio tours are a means to provide a recorded spoken commentary track through a handheld device to a visitor attraction such as a museum. They are also available for self-guided tours of outdoor locations, such as historic landmarks or as a part of an organised tour.

The aim of an audioguide is to provide background, context, and information on the things being viewed or current surroundings. Audio guides are available in multilingual versions and can be made available in different ways, offering an experience more comparable to an audio documentary than to a traditional guided tour. By offering easy access to interesting information about the item they are viewing, patrons are able to experience a more complete, immersive and educational visit.

What Is Show Control?

Show control is the use of automated technology to link together and operate multiple entertainment control systems in a coordinated manner. Using show control means linking a video segment with a number of lighting cues, or having a sound track triggered by proximity, or any combination of audio, video or lighting triggers.

By incorporating the latest in entertainment control technology and using show control to operate these subsystems simultaneously or independently, one can increase the automated interactivity of a show or exhibit. Once the setup is planned, programmed and implemented, show control enables you to interact passively with your patrons, queueing interactive triggers in order to enhance experience.
